Beginning at McNichols Park 1700 Roslyn St Denver CO 80220
Sidewalk Poets is very excited to announce our new writing/art installation project–The East Colfax StoryWalk!
Over the past year, we have been hosting creative writing workshops in the East Colfax neighborhood, and will showcase these poems in art installations throughout the area–on signs and electrical box wraps on street corners and parks–in multiple languages and some with audio recordings via qr codes.
We’re also hosting a communal walk/roll to experience the walk together, featuring live readings from StoryWalk authors, as well as some guided writing prompts.
We’ll walk a leisurely pace for a 2.5 mile loop, pausing to read and write. Wheelchairs, walkers, strollers welcome. Walk departs McNichols Park at 10 am.
Come out and join us, Monday September 4, 2023 (Labor Day) 9:30 am – 12:00 pm!
The StoryWalk is supported by Denver Arts and Venues PS You Are Here Program.
We’d also like to thank our sponsors, RiNo Sign Works, CHFA, Denver CALC, and artists Eileen Roscina and Buenas Causes Studio.
We had a blast hosting a booth and a reading at East Colfax Community Collective’s International Market Nights this summer!
The nights were a gorgeous celebration of the diverse cultural heritage of the neighborhood. And the August event featured a reading by incredible poets from the Sidewalk Poets’ community–including workshop participants Titi Christian, Maria Corral, Ashley Elementary (former) student, Jjaziel Valdez, and SP board member, Erika DeShay. Videos of the reading coming soon!
What an amazing community! So many wonderful folks came out to support and help us celebrate the book release of Abby Templeton Greene’s new book of poetry, A Blue House to Sleep In A big thank you to Lady Justice for hosting us and being such an amazing community space!
We are very excited to announce that Abby’s book, A Blue House to Sleep In has gone to print! If you purchased a book it should be coming in the mail soon. If you want to purchase a book please do so here. All proceeds go to Sidewalk Poets programming.

(Melinda Medina, paparouna, Christian Steward):
Sidewalk Poets assisted The Denver Family Institute with their yearly fundraiser by facilitating various storytelling centers throughout the event. We were honored to be part of this amazing organization that believes in quality, equitable therapy for ALL. We also used the words written by participants to create a collage poem, check out the video of us presenting it!
